Alongside the Academical Clerks and Choristers, the College Choir also includes three Stipendiary Clerks. Stipendiary Clerks are often recent graduates aspiring to become professional singers; the role can act as a springboard for these individuals, offering them the opportunity to hone their ensemble singing in a professional context, whilst becoming familiar with life in the Anglican Choral Tradition. Several of our previous Stipendiary Clerks have gone on to enjoy successful careers as both solo and ensemble singers; recent holders of these posts now sing with other Anglican Choral foundations, such as St George's Chapel, Windsor and Southwark Cathedral, as well as world-famous vocal ensembles including Stile Antico, Ensemble Pro Victoria, and Tenebrae. Others have gained full scholarships to study at UK and European conservatoires.

Stipendiary Clerks are fully integrated members of the College Choir, taking part in all of its activities and acting as role models for the Academical Clerks. They receive a monthly stipend and additional fees are paid for recordings, concerts, tours, and certain other events. Further particulars can be found here.

Applicants for the academic year 2025-26 must send a short letter of application, CV, and contacts details of two referees to Ms Griselda Sherlaw-Johnson by 20th February 2025. Applications are welcome from all qualified singers without regard to gender; the college particularly welcomes applications from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates.
