Bach Organ Recitals
As part of the celebrations of the new Eule Orgelbau instrument in the college chapel, Alexander Pott, then Assistant Organist and Tutor to the Choristers at Magdalen, performed the complete organ works of J. S. Bach over the course of the academic year 2023-24. A retiring collection was made for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, which supports care and research for children with illnesses, and raised over £10,000 for the cause.
Between 2017 and 2020, Alexander Pott was the recipient of the W. T. Best Scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. This scholarship was awarded to support the proposal to learn the complete organ works of Bach, and provided lessons with some of Europe’s best Bach experts, including Hans Fagius, Bine Bryndorf, Pieter van Dijk, Johannes Geffert, Robert Quinney, and Margaret Phillips.
