BUXTEHUDE:
MEMBRA JESU NOSTRI

Sun 24 March, 7.30pm

Magdalen College Choir collaborate with Oxford Bach Soloists and Niewe Vialles in a concert of Dietrich Buxtehude’s masterpiece, Membra Jesu Nostri. Each movement of the seven-movement cantata considers a different part of Christ’s body on the cross, in a heartfelt Holy-week meditation on suffering and redemption.

Magdalen College Choir and Oxford Bach Soloists will also be performing Membra Jesu Nostri at the Temple Church in London on Monday 25th March. Further details and tickets via the Temple Church website below.

LECONS DE TENEBRES

Wed 27 March, 9pm

On Wednesday of Holy Week - sometimes called Spy Wednesday - there will be a meditative evening performance of the French Baroque compsoer François Couperin's Leçons de Ténèbres by the Soprano voices Margaret Lingas and Jennifer Attia, the violist Chris Terepin and College Organist Alexander Pott.

Admission is free and a retiring collection will be taken.

COMPLETE WORKS OF BACH

STARTING: Thursday 28th March - Maundy Thursday

Recitals as part of a series given throughout the year by Alexander Pott, Assistant Organist and Tutor to the Choristers at Magdalen.

The recital will last between 40 and 50 minutes and is free to attend, with a retiring collection for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, which supports care and research for children with illnesses. The programme brochure that will be on sale at the recital series will also raise money for this cause.
